Answers:

Purchasing, Payments, PayPal, Downloading, and E-Book Delivery:

What forms of payment can I use?  Is the PayPal or Credit Card transaction secure?  How do I receive my e-book file?
You can pay by either PayPal account or with most major credit cards. Either type of transaction will be processed by PayPal, though you don't need a PayPal account to use your credit card - simply click the "Don't Have a PayPal Account" section of the purchase page to use your credit card.

PayPal, a leading electronic payment provider, and E-Junkie, a leading e-commerce provider, work hand in hand to accept payment and deliver the e-book files for all my e-books.  All purchase transactions are securely handled by PayPal.  When the transaction is complete a download link is immediately provided on-screen and sent via email, which can be clicked to instantly download the e-book file via E-Junkie.

PayPal is a highly secure payment transaction processor, one of the leading providers of this service on the Internet.  Their security policies can be found on their website www.PayPal.com

If a credit card is used to make the PayPal purchase, the charge may show up as either FS E-Books or Full Stop E-Books.

I did not receive an email with the link to download my e-book file.  What do I do?
Please check your email SPAM folder for the email containing the download link.  If it is not there, or if you accidentally entered the wrong email address and thus did not receive the download link, please contact me (email address just below) with your purchase information (which e-book purchased, the email address used, and the correct email address) and I will resend the link or send you the file directly.  I will typically respond within 24 hours, though usually much quicker.  After two years and thousands of flawless transactions, I have only experienced three transactions that were not immediately, automatically completed by PayPay and E Junkie (delayed due to a temporary PayPal service interruption).  If anything like this happens, please contact me and I will send you the e-book file directly.

Contact me at:  doug@dojoklo.com

My download link expired. How do I get it reactivated?
Please email me with as much of the following information that you can, and I will reactivate the download link:

1. The name used to purchase the book
2. The title / camera of the e-book purchased
3. The date purchased
4. The email address used to originally purchase the e-book

I accidentally made a purchase on this site, or someone made an unauthorized purchase in my name through my credit card/ PayPal. What do I do?
If you did not mean to make your purchase, or someone made an unauthorized purchase, simply contact me: doug@dojoklo.com and I will refund your purchase, via PayPal. I typically respond within hours, always within 24 hours. Know that if I fail to respond (which I won't!) you can open a PayPal dispute on the PayPal website to resolve the issue, though please contact me first and I will address the issue.

I bought the wrong e-book or e-book file format, or I wish to return the e-book. What do I do?
If you purchased the wrong book or format, or changed your mind/ were dissatisfied and decided you do not want the e-book, simply contact me: doug@dojoklo.com. I will either send you the correct e-book or e-book file format, or I will refund your purchase if desired, via PayPal.

My e-book file will not download, or started to download but it is stuck and not actually downloading.  What do I do?
Occasionally a download gets "stuck" and the file doesn't download, probably due to an issue with a server somewhere or possibly your computer's firewall/ security settings.  Please email (email address below) with your purchase information (which e-book purchased, the email address used) and I will send you the file directly to the same email address used for the purchase.  I will typically respond within 24 hours, though usually much quicker.  The few who have experienced this issue have had success with retrying the download a little later, or downloading from a different computer, or restarting the Internet connection.

I am being asked for a password to save or open the e-book PDF file.  What do I do?
There is no password required to save, open, or print the PDF file.  It is possible that you are accessing or trying to save or open a link or shortcut to the PDF file and not the actual PDF e-book file itself, or are trying to save the opened e-book file even though it is already located on your hard drive from when you initially downloaded and saved it.

Download/ save the PDF e-book file to your computer, then locate the PDF file that was just downloaded - perhaps in a Downloads folder or on your Desktop, or wherever you computer typically saves downloaded files.  Be sure that you have downloaded and saved the actual PDF file to your computer.  If you continue to have a problem, please contact me.

Contact me at:  doug@dojoklo.com

My computer crashed or I otherwise somehow lost the e-book file.  Can I download it again?
If you have lost your e-book file for any reason, I can reactivate the download link and send it to you again.  Please email me with as much of the following information that you can:

1. The name used to purchase the book
2. The title / camera of the e-book purchased
3. The date purchased
4. The email address used to originally purchase the e-book

Is my order subject to sales tax?
Items sold and shipped to destinations in the state of Massachusetts are subject to sales tax, which will be included in the sales amount at checkout.  For sales tax purposes, electronically delivered products including e-books are considered to be shipped to your credit card billing address.

This vendor is registered with the Massachusetts Commissioner of Revenue to collect Sales/ Use Tax on Goods sold in Massachusetts.  Please inquire if you would like to see a copy of the valid Massachusetts Sales/ Use Tax Registration Certificate.

Opening, Reading, and Transferring the E-Book File:

Where can I download Adobe Reader so I can view and read the PDF file on my computer?
Adobe Reader is a common software program that may already be on your computer.  If not, you can download the latest version for free from the Adobe website here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/

How does one transfer and view the PDF e-book on an iPad / iPhone / iTouch?
With the latest iPad/ iPhone models and iOS, you can typically download the PDF directly to your iPad/ iPhone immediately after purchase. First be sure you have the latest version of iBooks on your iPad, or you can read it with the Adobe Reader app on your iPad. On your iPad, open up the email you were sent that has the download link, Click on the link to download, and the PDF should then open. Tap the screen and select "Open in..." and select iBooks. Or select "Open in Adobe Reader" if you wish to read it with that app.

Also, be sure to download and save the PDF e-book file directly to your computer's hard drive using the link provided when you purchased the e-book, as a back up.

If you are unable to download and/ or open the PDF directly in the iPad/iPhone, then download the PDF to your computer. Be sure to have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer and the latest version of iBooks and/ or the Adobe Reader app on your iPad. Then, on your computer, add the PDF file to the iTunes library (File > Add File To Library. Or simply drag and drop the PDF file into the PDFs section of Books on iTunes).

Sync iTunes with your iPad by connecting the iPad to your computer (or wirelessly): select the iPad on the left-hand side of your the iTunes screen on your computer, then select the Books tab on the top of the iTunes screen. Make sure that you are syncing all books or else that the new PDF is selected, click Apply (if shown at the bottom of the screen) and then click the Sync button at the bottom of the iTunes screen. You will then find the book in iBooks on your iPad.

If you are still having issues syncing a PDF to the iPad:

There are some important settings and options that must be properly checked. Open iTunes on your computer and add the PDF file from your computer to your iTunes library (choose File>Add File to Library, or else simply drag the PDF into the PDFs section of Books). Select the PDF book name or cover in the iTunes library on your computer, choose File>Get Info (or right-click on the PDF-book name or cover and select Get Info), and under the Options tab change the PDF’s "Media Kind" to Book (or Book/Spoken Word) if necessary. Click OK to close that window, then select your device (iPad, iPhone) in the left sidebar of iTunes. Click on Books at the top bar of the iTunes window. Make sure that Sync Books has a check mark. Select All Books or manually select the PDFs, books, etc. that you want to sync to your iPad. Click Apply if it appears in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, then click Sync. This will put the PDF files on the iPad.

Please let me know if you have any issues with this process, as it may change based on updates to iTunes.

If this method fails for any reason, there are several other options:

Method 1
You can email the PDF to yourself as an attachment, and then open it up on the iPad / iPhone and read it with iBooks. iBooks version 1.1 and later have PDF support.  As Apple explains:

You can open PDF documents, such as a PDF attached to an email, with iBooks. When you view a PDF email attachment, simply tap "Open in iBooks," located in the upper-right corner of the screen. iBooks will open and you'll be able to view your PDF using the iBooks app.

When you use iBooks to open a PDF, iBooks will automatically save a copy of the PDF to your iBooks PDF shelf. These PDFs will also sync back to your iTunes Book library the next time you sync your device with iTunes.

Method 2
Or you can add the PDF file to your iPad through iTunes following these instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4227

Method 3
While I suggest using either iBooks or the Adobe Reader app to read the PDF on your device, there are also a variety of PDF reader apps you can use to transfer PDFs to the iPad and then read them, including the free Bluefire Reader for iPhone or Bluefire Reader for iPad app.

Here are lists of additional well regarded apps for reading PDF files on your iPad or iPhone:

How do I read the EPUB file on my computer?
ePub e-books can be read on a computer using free Adobe Digital Editions software. See below for how to read ePub files on an iPad or on a tablet device.

How does one transfer and view the EPUB e-book on an iPad / iPhone / iTouch?
With the latest iPad/ iPhone models and iOS, you can typically download the EPUB directly to your iPad/ iPhone immediately after purchase. On your iPad, open up the email you were sent that has the download link, click on the link to go to the download page, click to download, and then select to "Open in iBooks". It should then be saved in your iBooks library. If you don't see it on your iBooks bookshelf, be sure to look in the "Collections" tab under "Books" or "All Books" or "Purchased Books."

Also, be sure to sync your iPad with your computer and / or the iCloud so that you have a back-up of the book. Since you have six download attempts, you can also then save the ePub e-book file directly to your computer's hard drive, using the download link provided when you purchased the e-book, as a back up. I will reactivate the download link, upon request, if it expires.

If you are unable to download and/ or open the EPUB directly in the iPad/iPhone, then download the EPUB to your computer. Be sure to have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer and the latest version of iBooks app installed on your iPad.  Then, on your computer, add the EPUB file to the iTunes library (File > Add File To Library.) Or you can drag and drop the EPUB file into the Books section of iTunes: on the iTunes sidebar select your iPad, and under Device or On My Device, select the Books item. You should then be able to drag and drop the EPUB file to the list of books shown in the main window to the right).

Sync iTunes with your iPad by connecting the iPad to your computer (or wirelessly), select the iPad on the left-hand side of your the iTunes screen on your computer, then select the Books tab on the top of the iTunes screen. Make sure that you are syncing all books or else that the new EPUB is selected, click Apply if it appears at the bottom of the iTunes screen, and click the Sync button at the bottom of the iTunes screen. You will then find the book in iBooks on your iPad.

Please let me know if you have any issues with this process, as it may change based on updates to iTunes.

How does one read a PDF, EPUB, or MOBI e-book on a tablet device?
You can read a PDF on your tablet with any number of PDF reader apps, though I recommend using the Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices app designed for your device.  You can read ePub e-books on your tablet with a variety of ePub readers, though I recommend the Overdrive Media Console (see transfer instructions just below). You can read Mobi e-books on your tablet using a Mobi reader such as the free FBReader

Transfer: You may need to first download the e-book file to your computer, and then transfer it to the device. On an Android device, place the file in the reading app's appropriate epub, books, content, or library folder, or in the tablet's main eBook / eBooks folder - depending on the reading app you are using. With Overdrive (and perhaps other reading apps), you will need to go into My Files on your Android tablet (found by clicking the Apps icon), locate the book, then select it and choose to open it in Overdrive or the reading app of your choice.

I downloaded the PDF or EPUB directly to my Android tablet but the book will not open. What do I do?
If you have downloaded the PDF or EPUB directly to your Android tablet, and then tried to open the file from the bottom status bar or from the "Downloads" folder icon, the book may not open. It is an Android quirk that I can't explain. However, if you access the "My Files" folder icon, you can locate the book, select the file, and it will ask you which app you wish to use to open it. See above for suggested reading apps to use.

How do I transfer the e-book to my Kindle?
You can copy documents in supported formats to your Kindle following these steps:

-Connect your Kindle to your computer via USB cable. After drivers are installed, you can see your Kindle device as a disk drive.
-Navigate to "Documents" folder on your Kindle device.
-Copy the e-book file from you computer to the "Documents" folder on your Kindle device.
-Safely eject the Kindle from the computer.

The e-book should now be visible along with your other eBooks in the home screen. Note that the secure PDF version of the e-books may not be able to be transferred to a Kindle.  Please see the item immediately below to address this issue.

There is an error when I try to transfer the PDF e-book to my Kindle. What do I do?
All of the PDF e-books are "locked" and copy-protected, and some of the PDF e-books have Highlighting enabled, at the request of several readers. These features may make the PDF incompatible with some Kindles at this time. Please contact me and I will send you a Kindle friendly MOBI or EPUB file of your e-book.

How do I transfer a MOBI file to the Kindle app on my iPad?
If you are reading the guide on the iPad, I suggest reading the EPUB version using iBooks. But if you wish to read the book using the Kindle app on your iPad, follow these instructions. You will need the MOBI version of the book for the Kindle app:

Connect your iPad to the PC or Mac (by cable or wirelessly) and open iTunes (if it doesn't open automatically). Open up your iPad in iTunes (along the left sidebar), click on the Apps tab at top, scroll down to find Kindle, and click on it to display the Kindle Documents box to the right. Click "Add" to add the MOBI file, or simply drag the file into the box. If necessary, press the "Sync" button at the bottom of the screen to sync the computer and iPad.

There is an error when I try to transfer the PDF e-book to my Blackberry Playbook. What do I do?
All of the PDF e-books are "locked" and copy-protected, and some of the PDF e-books have Highlighting enabled, at the request of several readers. These features may make the PDF incompatible with some Blackberry Playbook tablets at this time. Please contact me and I will send you a tablet-friendly EPUB version of your e-book.

There is an error when I try to transfer the EPUB e-book to my Nexus 7 tablet. What do I do?
To transfer the EPUB file to your Nexus 7 tablet, first install a reader app such as  OverDrive Media Console. Connect your tablet to your PC or Mac, and create a folder in the Nexus 7 called "eBooks". Copy any EPUB or PDF files you wish to read into this folder. On the tablet, some reader apps will automatically recognize e-books in the eBooks folder, and other reader apps will require you to "import" the books from this folder by selecting the folder.

Updates to the Guides and Alternate Versions

How can I be notified and receive updates to the e-books?
You can sign up to receive notices of any important updates, and to be contacted about receiving free e-book copies of updated versions of the guides (if any major updates are made to the text). For example, Canon and Nikon sometimes release updated firmware which adds features and menu items, and I update the guide accordingly. Or if an important addition or correction is made, or several minor additions and corrections accumulate over time. Please sign up to be notified of these updates, here:

http://blog.dojoklo.com/ebooks/sign-up-for-full-stop-e-book-updates/

If you purchased the guide from Amazon, you may also wish to enable the Automatic Book Update feature, which is done in the Manage Your Kindle section of your account on the Amazon webpage. Follow Amazon’s instructions here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200875610#autoupdate

Also make sure that Annotations Backup is enabled on your Kindle device so that your notes and highlights are retained. This is done on your Kindle device itself, following Amazon’s instructions here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200911660#backup

If you purchased from Apple iBooks, you should also be informed of an update to the book just as you are with all other iPhone / iPad apps.

I would like an alternate version of the guide (PDF, EPUB, MOBI) in addition to the version I purchased. How do I obtain an alternate version?

If you would like a PDF, EPUB, or MOBI version, just get in touch with me and I will send you a link for the alternate version.

Misc.

How do I obtain a refund if I am unsatisfied with the guide?

If you are unhappy in any way, at any time, just let me know and I will provide a refund, via PayPal.

How can I become an affiliate and earn a commission for selling Full Stop e-books and camera guides?
Go to the affiliates page to learn more about becoming an affiliate and earning 20% commission for referring sales of Full Stop e-books from your blog or website:  http://www.dojoklo.com/Full_Stop/affiliates.htm

Do you offer user guides for advanced compact digital cameras?

I am sometimes asked if I write user guides for compact digital cameras. I do not write books for those types of cameras but rather focus on Canon and Nikon digital SLR (dSLR) cameras, ranging from the enthusiast models to the high-end models, as can be found on this site.

If you are looking for excellent guides for advanced compact digital cameras, such as the Sony DSC-RX100 II, Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7, Canon PowerShot S110, Nikon Coolpix P520, and many others, I can recommend a series of comprehensive, clearly written and fully illustrated guides by Alexander S. White, a very experienced photographer and writer. His guides are available in printed paperback versions as well digital downloads in PDF, Mobi, and ePub formats. You can learn more about Alexander’s guides at his White Knight Press website which offers guide books for advanced compact digital cameras.
